Encouraging demand for “Photonics made in Germany” on the American market
PHOTONICS GERMANY was once again represented this year with its own stand at the German Pavilion (Image: OptecNet Deutschland)The “SPIE.Photonics West” trade fair in San Francisco, together with three parallel events from January 28 – 30, 2025, was once again a highlight for the international photonics industry with around 1,600 exhibitors (2024: 1,500) and more than 24,000 visitors (2024: 24,000).500) and more than 24,000 visitors (2024: 24,000), the “Quantum West” trade fair also opened its doors for the second time with developers and manufacturers of quantum-based technologies for a wide range of applications.
“Photonics West is an important marketplace for presenting products and services and for establishing business relationships. We are very pleased with the positive response from the German exhibitors, who are very satisfied with the trade fair business. It became clear that there is a great demand for ‘Photonics made in Germany’ on the American market,” said Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt, CEO of OptecNet Germany.
PHOTONICS GERMANY, the alliance of SPECTARIS and OptecNet Deutschland, was once again represented at the German Pavilion this year with its own stand together with 64 other exhibitors, representing over 700 member companies and research institutes.
The popular GERMAN EVENING for the members and partners of SPECTARIS and OptecNet Germany took place this time at SAP Labs San Francisco and offered the 160 participants plenty of space for networking and personal exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. Consul General Oliver Schramm once again gave the keynote speech and addressed the latest developments in the USA. We would like to thank all the sponsors who made this event possible!
The Prism Awards were again presented during the trade fair, with three companies from Germany receiving an award: FlulDect GmbH (member of OptoNet) in the “Sensors” category, Scantinel Photonics GmbH (member of Photonics BW) in the “Lasers” category and SCHOTT AG (member of SPECTARIS) in the “Catalyst” category. The next “SPIE.Photonics West” will take place from January 20 – 22, 2026. PHOTONICS GERMANY will continue to work to strengthen the German photonics industry and international business relationships.
